Sandy is Cabrière's 'lady on the ground' in the Gauteng region, but also oversees Mpumalanga and the Free State and has been doing so for 6 years.

Sandy grew up in Springs but relocated to Pretoria to study Fine Art. Cabrière always plays an active role in the Bastille Festival, which has taken place in Franschhoek every year for decades. This mimics the annual Bastille Festival in France which commemorates the storming of the French prison, La Bastille on 14 July 1789, marking the start of the French Revolution with its battle cry: Liberté, Egalité et Fraternité.

It is a peasant festival, where old and young, rich and poor, gather together to celebrate freedom in the greater sense. Therefore food, wine and games would be the order of the day. In keeping with this tradition, Cabrière always has a stall offering wine for tasting, backed up by the Haute Cabrière Restaurant selling something delicious such as their offering this year of tempura prawns. And don't forget games: Jeff cobbled together a team for the boules tournament, which is sponsored by Cabrière; while Takuan valiantly took part in the barrel race with Cabrière's security attendant, Lorenzo. The two were slightly mismatched in size, which probably accounts for the 'slip up' towards the end of their heat (see photo).
