Franschhoek Uncorked

After a long, cold winter, everyone is dying to celebrate the start of spring. In Franschhoek, the whole village joins in the celebration as we watch the vines begin to shoot and blossoms begin to bloom. We call it Franschhoek Uncorked and the festival will be on 10 and 11 October 2009.
At Cabrière, we know how to party. So why not join us for a weekend of fun, we've got a host of activities to keep you busy.
The highlight this year will be a bright red Bedouin tent on the helipad where we'll have live music, wine tastings, picnic baskets for sale, and a jumping castle for the kids.
But high flyers don't despair; we will move the helicopter landing spot across from the cellar. R500 entitles you a helicopter ride with 3 wine tasting stops: Boschendal, Cabrière and Rickety Bridge.
In the tasting room, besides the usual sales, tastings and sabrage, we will be offering a Pita and Pinot combo consisting of tasty morsels of steak in a fresh pita combined with a glass of our newly released Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir 2006. The Haute Cabrière Chardonnay/Pinot Noir 2009 will also be ‘uncorked' for the first time.
After you've had your fill, grab a glass of Pierre Jourdan and wander through the cellar where there will be an exhibition of Achim's paintings.
Those in need of some exercise should try their hand at the Ratafia throwing competition over at the dam. R10.00 will get you a glass of Ratafia and 3 tennis balls. If you get the balls in the tube, you win a prize. [Note: if you're hoping to hit the target, it's best to first throw the balls and then drink the Ratafia!]
